Outlook does not import meeting attendees from certain file types

Symptoms

When you import meeting appointments from a file that is in Microsoft Access or Microsoft Excel tab-separated values, comma-separated values (CSV) format, iCalendar format (*.ics), or vCalendar format (*.vcs), some versions of Microsoft Outlook may not import the list of optional and required attendees for each meeting.

Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2010

When you import meetings from Microsoft Access or Microsoft Excel tab-separated values, comma-separated values (CSV) format, or vCalendar format (*.vcs), the list of attendees is not imported.

Note Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2010 successfully import both required and optional attendees when using iCalendar format (*.ics).

Outlook 2002 and Outlook 2003

When you import meetings from Microsoft Access or Microsoft Excel tab-separated values, comma-separated values (CSV) format, iCalendar format (*.ics), or vCalendar format (*.vcs), the list of attendees is not imported.
