You receive a Programming Bulletproof Error 10123 in the Lot/Serial Assignment screen when you add quantity to an existing IN Issues batch for a Lot/Serial tracked item

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario in Inventory in Microsoft Dynamics SL:

  • You open Inventory Items (10.250.00).  For an inventory item, you set Lot/Serial Tracked to Serial Numbered.  You click Lot/Serial and set Assignment to When Received into Inventory and you set Issue Method to User Enterable.
  • You open Inventory Receipts (10.010.00) and enter receipts for this item.  When the Lot/Serial Assignment screen appears, you click Create New Numbers and enter new serial numbers and release the batch.
  • You open Inventory Issues (10.020.00) and create an issues batch.  You set Handling to Hold and close the screen.
  • You reopen the Inventory Issues screen, enter the previously created batch number, and change the quantities on the issues batch.

When you do this, you receive an error:
