FIX: A stop error 0x50 in NDIS.sys occurs when any sleep state is entered and then resumed on a computer that is running Windows 7 Service Pack 1 or Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a computer that is running Windows 7 Service Pack 1 or Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1.
  • You have the computer enter any sleep state, and then you resume the computer.

In the scenario, you may receive a stop error 0x50 in NDIS.sys.

This problem occurs because of an issue in the Network Driver Interface Specification (NDIS) driver.

Resolution

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft Support. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing.
