Windows 8 inbox Camera app may fail to save the active recording

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You have a Windows 8 system.
  • You launch the inbox Microsoft Store Camera App.
  • You start to record a video with the Microsoft Store Camera App.
  • While the recording is active, you put the system to sleep.
In this scenario, the active recording may not be saved to disk when the system is put to sleep.

When this issue occurs, the system will transition to the sleep power state without any errors being displayed. On resume from sleep, the Camera app will display an error message that states: Something went wrong while recording this video and the video is not saved to the disk.

Cause

This is a known issue for Windows 8.
