RPC Client Access service freezes when your mailbox reaches the quota limit in an Exchange Server 2010 environment

Symptoms

Assume that you use Microsoft Outlook in online mode in a Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 environment. Additionally, assume that your mailbox reaches the quota limit. In this situation, the Microsoft Exchange RPC Client Access service (Microsoft.Exchange.RpcClientAccess.Service.exe) freezes on the Client Access server. When this issue occurs, users cannot access their mailboxes. Additionally, the following event is logged in the Application log on the Client Access server:

Cause

This issue occurs because the RPC Client Access service does not handle a QuotaExceededException exception correctly. When this exception occurs, Windows Error Reporting (WER) collects any exception information. The RPC Client Access service does not respond until WER is stopped.

To resolve this issue, install the following update rollup:
