FIX: A weekly task does not run in Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012 when daylight saving time starts or ends

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a computer that is running Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012.
  • You have the Current location setting set to a country that uses daylight saving time.
  • You create a weekly task in Task Scheduler that runs an executable file.
  • Daylight saving time starts or ends.

In this scenario, the task does not run.

Cause

This problem occurs because the calculation of the start time for a weekly task that has its date and time boundaries specified in local time uses an incorrect format for the start time.

This hotfix is also available at Microsoft Update Catalog.

Additionally, the dates and the times may change when you perform certain operations on the files.

Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 file information and notes

Important Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 hotfixes are included in the same packages. However, only "Windows 8" is listed on the Hotfix Request page.
