An unhandled exception occurs in a Lync 2013 SDK-based application

Symptoms

Assume that you develop a Microsoft Lync 2013 SDK-based application that works in side-by side mode in Lync 2013. When you try to send an instant message by using the application, the application throws the following unhandled exception:
NotSupportedException

To resolve this issue, install the following cumulative update:
