Instant message sent from Lync Web App displays wrong symbols in Lync 2013

Symptoms

Assume that you are a Microsoft Lync 2013 user. A Lync Web App user sends you an instant message in one of the following non-Latin languages: 
  • Russian
  • Ukrainian
  • Macedonian (Macedonia, FYROM)
  • Bulgarian
  • Serbian (Cyrillic)
  • Belarusian (Belarus)
  • Greek
  • Japanese
  • Arabic
  • Hebrew
  • Farsi
  • Kazakh        
In this situation, the instant message that you receive displays wrong symbols, such as pseudo-graphic symbols.
