Applications disappear from the Start screen after you refresh a Windows RT, Windows 8, or Windows Server 2012-based computer by using a push-button reset recovery image

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You install the update that is described in Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) article 2822241 on a computer that is running Windows RT, Windows 8, or Windows Server 2012.
  • You create a customized push-button reset recovery image.
  • You refresh the computer by using the push-button reset recovery image.
In this scenario, most applications disappear from the Start screen.
