Cause

During the MBAM 2.0 installation the setup writes files to the C:\Windows folder. You may get the above error if an Anti Virus Online Scanner software interferes and locks the C:\Windows folder when MBAM 2.0 is trying to write files to the folder and making changes to IIS Configuration.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, ensure to exclude the following folder from Anti-Virus Online Scanning before executing MBAM 2.0 setup:

  • C:\Windows\
  • C:\Inetpub\

    or
  • You can temporarily disable Anti-Virus Online Scanning and re-enable after MBAM 2.0 installation is completed.
