Windows 8 Camera app may show video preview picture stretched and in wrong orientation

When the video is stopped and saved, the Camera app captures a snapshot of the last frame of the video and displays it briefly as the video preview picture. It is displayed in the original orientation from when the video was first started. If the tablet was rotated to a different orientation before the video was stopped, the Camera app will display the preview picture in the previous orientation and then stretch it to fill the screen. As a result, the image may appear distorted and stretched.

For example, you launch the Camera app and start a video with the tablet in a portrait orientation. While recording the video, you rotate the tablet 90 degrees so it is now in a landscape orientation. You then stop the video by touching the screen. The video preview picture that is captured will be landscape but will be rotated and shown as portrait. Since it fills the screen, the picture is stretched at the top and bottom, distorting the image.
