Printer Extensions dialog box of a V4 printer driver freezes in Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You install a V4 printer driver on a Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012-based computer.
  • You open the Print dialog box in an application. Then, you click the Preferences button to open the Printer Extensions dialog box for the driver.
  • You click the window of the application.
  • You click the Printer Extensions dialog box.
In this scenario, the Printer Extensions dialog box freezes for some time.
