You receive a rate not found error in project allocator that references an allocation method that is not attached to the project being allocated

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario in Project Allocator in Microsoft Dynamics SL 2011:

  • In Project Maintenance (PA.PRJ.00), you set up a project with allocation methods for both Alloc Method 1 and Alloc Method 2.
  • In Project Maintenance (PA.PRJ.00), you set up a second project with an allocation method for only Alloc Method 1.
  • You create transactions for both projects that have to be allocated.
  • You open Allocation Processor (PA.PRO.00) and then click the Allocate Company button to start allocation processor.

When you do this, you notice that a rate not found error occurs for the second project, that references a step in Alloc Method 2 for the first project, even though the second project is not set up to run this second allocation method.

Resolution
