An error occurs when Visual Studio 2012 database project functionality is used on a computer that has Visual Studio 2013 Preview or Visual Studio 2013 RC installed

Symptoms

You install Microsoft Visual Studio 2013 Preview or Microsoft Visual Studio 2013 Release Candidate (RC) on the same computer that has Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 installed. When you try to use any database project functionality in Visual Studio 2012, you receive an error message that contains a link to download a fix for the problem. However, the link does not work.

Cause

This problem occurs because Visual Studio 2013 installs shared Microsoft SQL Server 2012 runtime components that are incompatible with the Microsoft SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT) that Visual Studio 2012 installed. A compatibility check is run by Visual Studio 2012 when the Data Tools are accessed. Although the compatibility check correctly detects the incompatibility, the resulting link does not function correctly.

Status
