Wireless networks aren't listed on a device that's running Windows 8

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Assume that you have a device that's running Windows 8 and that uses a scaling plateau such as 1.8. When you go to the wireless network connection screen, no networks are listed, and you miss the opportunity to sign in through a Microsoft account.

Cause

This problem occurs because the height of the control in the network list is set incorrectly. Therefore, the control does not have free-sizing functionality when it's rendered with a scaling plateau that's higher than 1.5.

Windows 8 file information notes
Important Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 hotfixes are included in the same packages. However, only "Windows 8" is listed on the Hotfix Request page.
