INTRODUCTION

Issue that this hotfix package fixes

  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You set up proxy settings in Windows Internet Explorer by using the Automatically detect settings setting.
    • You connect to a domain network, and then you install Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise.
    In this scenario, when you start an Office application, the product cannot be automatically activated.

Registry information

Important
Follow the steps in this section carefully. Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Before you modify it, back up the registry for restoration in case problems occur.

After you install the hotfix package, follow these steps to fix the issue.
  1. Exit all Microsoft Office applications.
  2. Start Registry Editor:
    • In Windows 7, click Start, type regedit in the Search programs and files text box, and then click regedit.exe in the search results.
    • In Windows 8, move your mouse to the upper-right corner, click Search, type regedit in the search text box, and then click regedit.exe in the search results.
  3. Locate and then select the following registry subkey:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\Internet\If you have a 32-bit version of Office installed on a 64-bit version of Windows, locate and then select the following registry subkey:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\Internet\
  4. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
  5. Type RemoveQueryStringBeforeProxyLookup, and then press the Enter key.
  6. In the Details pane, right-click RemoveQueryStringBeforeProxyLookup, and then click Modify.
  7. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
  8. Exit Registry Editor.

The global version of this hotfix package uses a Microsoft Windows Installer package to install the hotfix package.
