This article describes a hotfix for Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 that corrects Server Message Block (SMB) error codes that differ from SMB protocol documentation.
After you install this hotfix, the SMB server returns different error codes in one of the following scenarios to comply with the SMB protocol documentation.
Scenario 1
When an SMB client computer sends a request that requests to reconnect to a persistent handle that has time-out setting, different error codes are returned.
