View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a Windows Server 2012-based or Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (SP1)-based Direct Access server that has one-time password (OTP) user authentication deployed.
  • You create a user account that contains a special character in its distinguished name (DN). For example, the DN contains "\" or "," symbols.
  • You use the user account to connect to the server from a Direct Access client computer that is running Windows 8, Windows Server 2012, Windows 7 SP1, or Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1.
In this scenario, connection to the server is not established. Additionally, you receive the following error message:
ERROR: Failed generating certificate request. HRESULT = 0x80092023
