Symptoms

VAMT 3.0 tool may display an empty Volume Licensing reports or show incorrect counts for VAMT Inventory and License overview.

Cause

This issue can occur when the default language is set to something other than English (United States).

Note: Not all languages exhibit this issue.

Workaround

Set the default language to English (United States) by changing the following:

For Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012
  1. Open the Search charm, begin entering language, choose Settings, and then tap or click Language.
  2. Verify if English (United States) is listed and has display language has Windows display language: Enabled or Available next to its name.
  3. If it does, tap or click it, and then tap or click Move upuntil the language is at the top of the list.
  4. If English (United States) is not listed in the Language Control Panel, click Add a language.
  5. Browse or use the search box to look for the language you want to add, and then double-click a language to add it to your list.
  6. Sign out and sign back in to your computer.
  7. You should now see Windowsin the language that you moved up to the top of the display language list.

    Note: If a language pack is not installed, you will need to add it in order to use the language as a display language. To download a language pack:
    1. Look for Available for download next to the language. Tap or click Options, and then tap or click Download and install language pack.
    2. Follow the on-screen instructions to download the language pack.

For Windows 7 
  1. Open Region and Language by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Clock, Language, and Region, and then clicking Region and Language.
  2. Click the Keyboards and Languages tab.
  3. Under Display language, choose a English (United States) language from the list, and then click OK.

    Note: If you do not see the list of display languages, you need to install additional language files.
For Windows Server 2008 R2
  1. Open Region and Language by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, and then clicking Region and Language. 
  2. Click the Keyboards and Languages tab.
  3. Under Display language, choose a language from the list, and then click OK.

    Note: If you do not see the list of display languages, you need to install additional language files.
