Unattended behaviors can occur in such a situation because SharePoint, which is using a SQL database for its configuration, will not be aware of this modification.

It is mandatory to enable the Anonymous Authentication on the zone used by SharePoint to give access to the web application.

Enabling Anonymous Authentication is not going to give anonymous users access on a site collection till the following configuration is not changed from the permissions settings of the site collection.
