SSO UI displays Windows Vista-style UI when you enter an incorrect password on a Windows 8-based tablet device

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You want to log on to a domain by using domain credentials on a Windows 8-based tablet device.
  • You enter an incorrect password for the domain.
  • The tablet tries to perform a Single Sign-on (SSO) to connect to the WLAN network.
In this scenario, the system unexpectedly redirects the SSO to a Windows Vista-style UI. Additionally, the touch feature is disabled.

Hotfix information

Windows RT and Windows 8 file information notes
Important Windows 8 hotfixes and Windows Server 2012 hotfixes are included in the same packages. However, only "Windows 8" is listed on the Hotfix Request page. To request the hotfix package that applies to one or both operating systems, select the hotfix that is listed under "Windows 8" on the page.
