Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a Windows 8 PC with an integrated or attached webcam.
  • The Windows 8 Camera app is launched and live video capture is started.
  • You switch away from the Camera app to the Windows 8 Start screen, the Desktop, or another app.
  • You switch back to the Camera app.

In this scenario, you may briefly see the last video frame displayed from the previous Camera session. After briefly displaying the image, normal live video capture is resumed.

Resolution

To work around this issue, close the Camera app instead of switching away from it. To close the Camera app, use one of the following methods while the app is running in the foreground:
  • Alt+F4
  • Position the mouse at the top of the screen until you see a hand for the pointer. Use the mouse to drag from the top of the screen towards the bottom of the screen.
  • For touch screens, position your finger at the top of the screen and swipe towards the bottom of the screen.
