Symptoms

You cannot migrate Microsoft Office 2013 settings by using the User State Migration Tool (USMT) 5.0 on a Windows 8 or Windows 7-based computer.

Note The USMT 5.0 is included in the Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit (Windows ADK).

Resolution

Hotfix information

After you download this hotfix, replace the existing MigApp.xml file with the updated MigApp.xml file that is contained in the hotfix in one of the following locations:
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\8.0\Assessment and Deployment Kit\User State Migration Tool\x86
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\8.0\Assessment and Deployment Kit\User State Migration Tool\amd64
Notes
  • The updated MigApp.xml file enables you to migrate Office 2013 settings.
  • These are the default installation locations for Windows ADK in the x86 and x64-based versions of Windows 8 and Windows 7. If you did not install Windows ADK in these folders, or if you run the LoadState or ScanState command from a folder other than these folders, you have to replace the MigApp.xml file with the updated MigApp.xml file in the folder in which you installed Windows ADK or from which you run the LoadState or ScanState command.
