Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall the operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk. Before making the registry change described in this article, Microsoft recommends that you confirm with HP that your specific model of AHCI controller is affected by the problem. The registry values provided in this article are vendor and device specific and do not apply to other brands or models of AHCI controllers.
To work around this problem, edit the registry to disable the power down of the AHCI controller during the shutdown process.
- Start Registry Editor by running regedit.exe
- Locate and then select the following subkey in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\PCI\Parameters - Create a new REG_BINARY value.
For "Intel(R) 8 Series/C220 Series SATA AHCI Controller - 8C02":REG_BINARY value name | Hexadecimal value data |
---|
80868c02 | 00,00,00,40,00,00,00,00 |
For "Intel(R) 8 Series SATA AHCI Controller - 8C03":REG_BINARY value name | Hexadecimal value data |
---|
80868c03 | 00,00,00,40,00,00,00,00 |
- Exit Registry Editor.
The HP models affected by this issue may change. If you believe you are having the issue described in this article, please contact HP to verify which models are currently affected prior to implementing the workaround described above.
