Important
Follow the steps in this section carefully. Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Before you modify it, back up the registry for restoration in case problems occur.

  1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
  2. Locate and then select the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Common\Charting
  3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
  4. Type ApplyCustomSeparatorToPicFmt, and then press Enter.
  5. In the Details pane, right-click ApplyCustomSeparatorToPicFmt, and then click Modify.
  6. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
  7. Exit Registry Editor.
  8. Restart Excel 2010, and then open the workbook again.
Note If you set the value of the registry key to 0 or delete the registry key, the custom separators are not applied in Excel 2010.
