This article describes an update for Microsoft Digital Rights Management (MSDRM) clients in Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012, and Windows Server 2012 R2. This update helps unmanaged Microsoft Office 2010 users open content that is protected by Microsoft Rights Management service (Microsoft RMS).

Assume that you run an application that uses MSDRM to open content that is protected by Microsoft RMS on a computer. If the computer does not meet the prerequisites, you will keep being prompted for your credentials.
