Audio anomaly may occur on devices running Windows 8 on the Intel Atom Z2760 chipset if a Bluetooth headset is paired

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a device running Windows 8 on an Intel Atom Z2760 chipset
  • Windows Media Player or a 3rd party media application is playing an audio file through the computer's internal speakers
  • You have a Bluetooth headset paired with the computer
In this scenario, an audio anomaly or static sound may occur while selecting and deselecting the "Recording" tab within the Control Panel/Sound applet.

This is a known issue.

Workaround

To work around this issue, pause the playing audio prior to selecting or deselecting the "Recording" tab within the Control Panel/Sound applet.

The anomaly does not occur while playing audio with Windows 8 Music App.
