You cannot import a Windows 8 signed driver on a Windows Server 2008 R2-based WDS server

Symptoms

When you try to import a Windows 8 signed driver by using the Add Driver Package Wizard on a Windows Server 2008 R2-based Windows Deployment Service (WDS) server, the operation fails. Additionally, you receive the following error message:
The following is a list of driver packages that were not added to the server. Common causes for failed packages include an unsigned x64-based package (x64-based packages must be signed), package corruption, and network connectivity issues. To view more information about a package, double-click it.

Cause

This issue occurs because the driver was signed by using the SHA-2 hash algorithm. Therefore, the driver cannot be validated on a WDS platform on which a version of Windows earlier than Windows Server 2012 is installed.

Resolution

Hotfix information
