XADM: Messages for Local Delivery Remain in Queue

Symptoms

While you are monitoring an Exchange 2000 Server, you may see messages that remain in the SMTP queue that is bound for local delivery. In addition, the information store process consumes 100 percent CPU usage.

Cause

The information store process does not detect cross membership in Security Groups when it is checking security credentials. For example:
  1. Create two Security Groups, SG1 and SG2.
  2. Make SG1 a member of SG2.
  3. Make SG2 a member of SG1.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server Service Pack 1.
