MS Access 2013 � 30 Minutes First Look

This article, will cover about MS Access 2013, focusing about new features and it might to combine with Windows 8 features.

I am assuming with this :

1. You already familiar with MS Access, at least MS Access 2007 or MS Access 2010. I am using MS Office 2013 Pro Plus in this article.
2. You already use Windows 8 as desktop operating system.
3. You have an account in SkyDrive.
4. Good internet connection, we need it surely�in some section in this article.

Now let�s begin.

As we know that cloud computing is a kind of mantra these days, so that happen in MS Office 2013. Microsoft provide SkyDrive as basic cloud computing for everyone and surely we can use it in MS Access or other MS Office application.

So we login to our Windows 8 with Microsoft Account. We can use service from hotmail.com, Live.com or Outlook.com and don�t forget to login in to our SkyDrive Account.

• MS Access Get New Look (User Interface)
  
  Fire up your MS Access 2013 and you will see that Microsoft give �new look� (User Interface) for MS Access, this is a �tradition�, every new version� will be given new User Interface. So the first thing I found is New Look (User Interface) for MS Access 2013.
  
  
  
  
  
• MS Access Connected with Our "Microsoft Account"
  
  As I mention above that we login in our Windows 8 with Microsoft Account. Meaning we have to connect to the internet. Check out at the right-up corner. We can see our name, e-mail address, and sure our photographs (if you provide it with your account).
  
  
  
  
  
• Connected To �Other Services"
  
  Click menu Account�- see the "Microsoft Account" that I marked with green box - and we can see that we can �connected� to many services. Not just SkyDrive, but also Facebook, Twitter, and so on.
  
  
  
  
  Now let click Switch Account, MS Access will ask wether we will move to other account. Usually from the company or organization where we work for.
  
  
  
  
  Benefit of this feature is, when we use someone else�s PC/NB, we can still use our work stored in our SkyDrive account for example without bothering ourself. Nice isn�t it ? MS Access really ready for cloud computing.
  
  
• MS Access�FileSaved in SkyDrive
  
  How to use cloud computing (SkyDrive) in MS Access ? �Basicly, all MS Office 2013 application can use SkyDrive.
  Click Open�and you will see your SkyDrive account where we can open our files stored in SkyDrive.
  
  
  
  
• New Data Type
  
  In MS Access 2013, Microsoft give MS Access new data type. Even 2 of them. Short Text and Long Text. You may check at the picture.
  
  
  
  
  For Short Text, in property would allow maximum 255 characters, and for Long Text can be more than 255 characters.
