Progress Indicator is not displayed during Automatic Repair on Windows 7 and Windows 8

Summary

Consider the following scenario:

  • Windows 7 or Windows 8 fails two consecutive boot attempts, triggering Automatic Repair.
  • A System Restore Point is available.
  • Automatic Repair prompts the user to select either Restore or Cancel.

After selecting either Restore or Cancel, Windows Automatic Repair will initiate a System File Integrity check. The System File Integrity check may take several minutes to complete (5 - 15 minutes). During this time, Windows will display the logo screen without any messages or a progress indicator. Windows should not be rebooted during this process.

More Information

If a System Restore Point is not available, Windows Automatic Repair will launch the System File Integrity check without prompting the user. Additionally, the message Attempting Repair and a spinning progress indicator will be present.
