Delayed delivery when you send many messages on a Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012-based Message Queuing server

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You install Microsoft Message Queuing (also known as MSMQ) on a computer that is running Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012.
  • You send messages to message queues on many Message Queuing clients.
  • Some of the Message Queuing clients are offline or not reachable.
In this situation, Message Queuing takes longer than expected to send the messages to the clients.

Cause

This issue occurs because when outgoing queues of the Message Queuing server try to connect to the clients, the connection status continuously changes from Connected to Waiting to Connected and so on.
