User sessions may be logged off unexpectedly when duplicate IP addresses are detected in Windows Multipoint Server 2011

Symptoms

Windows Multipoint Server 2011 uses Remote Desktop IP Virtualization to assign a unique IP address for each user upon logon. If DHCP cannot provide a unique IP address within the time frame that is allocated for the request, there is no retry mechanism, and a non-unique IP address is assigned to the session. Therefore, duplicate IP addresses may be detected. When this occurs, user sessions may be logged off unexpectedly.

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. You must have Windows Multipoint Server 2011 installed on Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 to apply this hotfix.
