FIX: A Management Point experiences high CPU usage or high memory consumption in System Center Configuration Manager 2007 Service Pack 2

Symptoms

You have a Management Point installed on a site server in Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 Service Pack 2. In some cases, such as scenarios that involve a low disk space, the Management Point may experience high CPU usage or high memory consumption. This may result in an overall decrease in performance.

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.

Prerequisites

To apply this hotfix, you must have Service Pack 2 for System Center 2007 Configuration Manager installed.

Restart information

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.

Note We recommend that you close Configuration Manager Administration Console before you install this hotfix package.

Hotfix replacement information

This hotfix package replaces only the Mp.msi file that is contained in the following hotfix:

2504229 A System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP2 client cannot register to its management point after an OSD task sequence reinstalls its operating system
Note This hotfix package does not replace any other files that are contained in hotfix 2504229 .
