Unable to project more than 32 Stations in Windows Multipoint Server 2011

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You have a computer that is running with Windows MultiPoint Server 2011
  • You use the Multipoint Manager to manage MultiPoint Server system
  • In the Selected Item Tasks on the Desktop Tab you select more than 32 stations

In this scenario, the option for Project my station to selected stations in the Selected Item Tasks on the Desktop Tab disappears. Also, under the General Tasks on the Desktop Tab, the Project my station to all stations would not show up if you have more than 32 stations available.

Note: If you unselect some stations to bring the total number down to 32 or below, the option is available again.

Workaround

To workaround this behavior, modify the MaximumAllowedViewers registry value.

Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.
