Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You have a Windows 8 touch-capable PC.
  • You open and maximize the touch keyboard (taptip.exe).
  • You touch the edge of the keyboard.

In this scenario, you may unexpectedly find that the key nearest to where you touched the keyboard is pressed.

Cause

This behavior is by design. When the touch keyboard is docked or maximized, it will pick up the keys that are closest to the touch inputs because the keyboard tries to guess what key the user intended to press.
