Program deployment is not successful due to lack of space in SYSVOL

Symptoms

When you attempt to add a deployed program to a Group Policy Object (GPO), you may receive the following error message:
Add operation failed. Unable to extract deployment information from the package. Run validation on the package to ensure that the package is correct.
In addition, the following event is logged in the Application Log:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Software Installation
Event Category: None
Event ID: 103
Date: 12/14/2000
Time: 5:29:05 PM
User: N/A
Computer: MACHINENAME
Description: Software Installation failed to deploy package appname.msi. The following error was encountered: The system cannot find the path specified.

Cause

These errors occur if the drive that contains the SYSVOL directory has no more free space available for storage.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, relocate any files that reside on the drive that contains SYSVOL. It is not recommended to move any files out of the SYSVOL structure. However, it may be possible to move files from other directories that reside on the same drive.
