FIX: DIR command reports an incorrect file size on an exFAT partition on a Windows Embedded Compact 7-based device

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a Windows Embedded Compact 7-based device that has an Extended File Allocation Table (exFAT) File System partition.
  • You have a file that is larger than 2 gigabytes (GB) on the partition.
  • You run the DIR command from the command processor against the folder that contains the file on the partition.

In this scenario, the file size that is reported by the DIR command is incorrect.

Cause

This issue occurs because the DIR command uses only the lower 32 bits of the file size in its report.

Prerequisites

This update is supported only if all previous updates for this product are installed.

Restart requirement

After you apply this update, you must perform a clean build of the whole platform. To do this, use one of the following methods:
  • On the Build menu, click Clean Solution, and then click Build Solution.
  • On the Build menu, click Rebuild Solution.
You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this software update.
