Poor performance when you use MSXML6.0 in Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 or in a 64-bit version of Windows 7 SP1

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Assume that you run an application that uses Microsoft Core XML Services (MSXML) 6.0 on a computer that is running Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or a 64-bit version of Windows 7 SP1. Additionally, assume that the application uses the 64-bit version of MSXML6.0 to load XML documents. In this situation, the application takes over two times longer to load an XML document than when you use the 32-bit version of MSXML6.0.

Cause

This issue occurs because slot-size and page-size are allocated incorrectly in a function in the 64-bit environment.
