System Center 2012 Virtual Machine Manager SP1 Does Not Recognize Newly Imported Highly Available Virtual Machine

Symptoms

After importing a virtual machine into the failover cluster that is managed by the System Center 2012 Virtual Machine Manager SP1 and configuring the virtual machine as highly available in the Failover Cluster Manager console, Virtual Machine Manager (VMM) does not recognize the virtual machine as highly available when viewing virtual machine properties in the VMM console.

Cause

This is by design. Virtual Machine Manager refreshes properties related to the high availability of the virtual machines from the failover cluster during the cluster refresh which might take up to 24 hours.

Resolution

Either wait for VMM to refresh the failover cluster automatically (might take up to 24 hours) or manually refresh the cluster from the VMM console.
