Mapped printers are not added to a client computer that is running Windows 7 SP1 or Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Assume that you use Group Policy preferences to deploy multiple printers to a client computer that is running Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. Additionally, assume that a user profile is configured to be deleted after the user logs off from the client computer. In this situation, when you log off and log on to the client computer again, some mapped printers are not added to the client computer. Additionally, you receive an error message that resembles the following:
0x8007007a: The data area passed to a system call is too small.

Note The expected behavior is that all the mapped printers are added to the client computer.
