FIX: The configuration process for the Network Integration feature is unsuccessful when you reinstall Host Integration Server 2009

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have Microsoft Host Integration Server 2009 installed.
  • You successfully configure Host Integration Server 2009 Network Integration features, such as link services, connections, and logical units (LUs).
  • You apply a Host Integration Server 2009 cumulative update (CU), uninstall Host Integration Server 2009, and then reinstall Host Integration Server 2009.

In this scenario, when you run the Configuration tool (Configuration.exe) to configure Host Integration Server 2009, the configuration process for the Network Integration feature is unsuccessful. Additionally, information that resembles the following is logged in the configuration log file:
[time Info ConfigHelper] Attempting to open service manager.
[time Info ConfigHelper] Attempting to lock service database.
[time Error ConfigHelper] path\service.cpp(1240): FAILED hr = 80004005
[time Error ConfigHelper]             Failed to configure service: SnaBase

Resolution

To resolve this issue, install cumulative update package 4 for Host Integration Server 2009.
