The process control does not appear for some users in the new sales and service forms in the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online December 2012 Service Update

Symptoms

When accessing the new Lead, Opportunity, and Case forms in the December 2012 Service Update for Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online, some users do not see the process control. This symptom is illustrated in the screenshot below:

Cause

This issue is caused by missing the 'read' permission for the Process Configuration entity privilege in the user's assigned security role.

Resolution

  1. Click Settings, and then click Administration
  2. Click Security Roles
  3. Open the Security Role(s) of the affected users
  4. Find the Process Configuration privilege, and assign organization read access
  5. Click Save and Close

More Information

All out of the box security roles are updated to include organization level 'read' access for the Process Configuration entity after the December 2012 Service Update is applied. However, custom security roles are not updated to include this privilege.

The process control, as well as the tab control, can also appear missing if the user has switched their default form preference in the left navigation area. For more information concerning this symptom, please see the following KB article:
