Cache files are not deleted on a WebDAV client computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You set the Startup type of the WebClient service to Automatic on a client computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2.
  • You install a Web Server (IIS) role on a server that is running Windows Server 2008 R2.
  • You create and publish a Web Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV) share folder on the Web Server.
  • You successfully transfer data files to the WebDAV share folder from the client computer.
  • You open the TfsStore cache folder on the client computer at the following location:

    %systemdrive%\windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Temp\TfsStore
In this scenario, you find that the data files are still present in the TfsStore cache folder.

Note The expected behavior is that the data files in the TfsStore cache folder are deleted after the data transfer is successful.

Resolution

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.
