You cannot join a computer to a domain if your domain password has expired


Symptoms

When you try to join a computer to a domain after your domain password has expired, the computer cannot join the domain. Additionally, you receive the following error message:
The user's password must be changed before signing in.

Resolution

To resolve the issue, reset your domain password, and then join the computer to the domain.

If you have a domain-joined computer, you can reset the domain password by logging on with the expired password. You are then prompted to change the password. 

If you do not have a domain-joined computer, you can reset the domain password by using one of the following methods:
  • Contact the help desk in your organization, and have them reset your domain password. 
  • Reset your domain password in Microsoft Outlook Web App. For more information about how to do this, go to the following Microsoft website:
