You receive System Message 6672 'Insufficient quantity found for Item' when you change the handling from Quote to Release Now in Service Call Entry

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario in Microsoft Dynamics SL:

  • You open Service Call Entry (SD.200.00). You create a service call and set Handling to Quote.
  • You enter invoice information for the service call in Invoice Entry (SD.202.00). 
  • You open Inventory Transfers (10.040.00) and transfer inventory into the site that was entered on the quote.
  • You open Service Call Entry (SD.200.00) and change Handling from Quote to Release Now.

When you do this, you receive an error.

System Message 6672 Insufficient quantity found for item

The expectation is that, because you transferred items into the site used on the Service Call, you would not receive an error message.

Resolution
