Symptoms

In Internet Explorer 10, emoji characters are not visible and control glyphs are missing on emoji-capable platforms that are running Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (SP1). Control glyphs include such elements as the arrow keys in the scrollbar.

Resolution

To fix this problem, install the update for the Segoe UI symbol font in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. For more information, click the following article number to go to the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
