A "Software 09B" report from Asset Intelligence does not contain accurate data in System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP2

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 Service Pack 2 (SP2) site server.
  • You enable the Hardware Inventory, Software Metering, and Asset Intelligence server Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) classes on the site server.
  • You deploy an application to a client computer by using a Microsoft Installer (MSI) package.
  • You apply an update to the application, and then you start the application.
In this scenario, the Software Metering agent cannot obtain the values of the msiDisplayName, msiPublisher, and msiVersion attributes that are pulled from MSI by a software metering component. Therefore, the SoftwarePropertiesHash value cannot be calculated. This issue prevents the Asset Intelligence report titled "Software 09B Computers with infrequently used software installed" to report accurate data.

Note This issue only occurs after you apply the update for the application and then use the updated application.
