Cause

This occurs when the SharePoint timer job "Timer Service Recycle" runs right before the timer job "User Profile to SharePoint Quick Synchronization". If the timer service is still in the process of recycling, then the Profile Synchronization job will fail, resulting in this Event Log entry.

Resolution

Change the schedule for the "Timer Service Recycle" job to run during off peak hours, when a small amount of timer jobs are running.
