Introduction

This article describes an update that resolves some crash issues for Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 profiler in Visual Studio 2010 Service Pack 1 (SP1).

Issues that this hotfix resolves

Issue 1

When you try to open a .vsp file by using Visual Studio 2010, it may crash.

Cause

This issue occurs because of an unhandled System.NullReferenceException exception that occurs when you try to open the .vsp file.

Issue 2

When you run Visual Studio 2010 profiler for a Visual C++ application in Sampling mode, the profiler may crash.

Cause

This issue occurs because of an access violation exception that occurs in SamplingRuntime.dll.

Prerequisites

To apply this hotfix, you must have Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 SP1 installed.

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart the computer after you install the hotfix if the affected files are not being used at the time of installation. We recommend that you close all Visual Studio 2010-related components before you install the hotfix.
